Sigma Alpha Epsilon - Massachusetts Beta Alpha Chapter
The Massachusetts Beta Alpha (MABA) Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is a consortium chapter featuring brothers from Boston College, Boston University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, and, previously, Massachusetts College of Pharmaceutical Health Services. As a freshman at Boston College, which has no recognized Greek System, Casey sought out the MABA Chapter and joined in the Spring Semester of 2011.
As a pledge, he finished with the highest grade average and went on to hold a variety of positions. After spearheading recruitment on BC's campus in the Fall of 2011, he was elected the Recruitment Co-Chairman for the 2012 Spring Semester. Later, he was elected Eminent Archon (President) of the Chapter for the 2013 calendar year. As President, Casey oversaw the Chapter during a period of substantial growth and achievement. In Casey's first semester, the Chapter received a perfect score from the Regional Director on their annual evaluation, a first of any chapter in this Director's Region. The Chapter went on to receive a variety of National and Provincial awards and recognitions, which are listed below. He and the Eminent Treasurer also went on to restructure the Chapter's Treasury, leading to the greatest period of financial health and stability in the Chapter's history with a near perfect collection rate and strong budgeting.
Casey then worked to jumpstart the Chapter's Continuing Education Program as its Continuing Education Chairman, holding diverse seminars in an effort to expand the experiences of the Chapter's brothers.
Casey has also attended three leadership schools hosted by Sigma Alpha Epsilon: the 2011 and 2013 Province Alpha (New England) Leadership Schools and the 2012 John O. Moseley National Leadership School. He was asked to lead seminars at both the 2011 and 2013 Province Alpha Leadership School sessions. The seminars he led were on Recruitment, Health and Safety (Risk Management), and Philanthropy.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon Mission
"The mission of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is to promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarship and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in 'The True Gentleman.'" |
"The True Gentleman"
"The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe." |

International Assistant Program - Boston College
As a freshman, Casey applied for and was subsequently accepted into the International Assistant Program at Boston College. The International Assistant Program selects seventy-five sophomores through seniors each year to become International Assistants (IA's). Each IA is matched with three to four incoming International Students (IS's) who are freshmen, exchange students, or transfer students from abroad. The IA's are expected to act as mentors to the IS's in a variety of ways, ranging from serving as resources to being friends. Their primary responsibility, however, is to serve as a cultural and campus liaison to help the IS's acclimate to life in the United States and at Boston College.
In his first year in the program, Casey was selected to join the Steering Committee, which plans out program wide events and runs the recruitment process for the upcoming year. As a member of the Steering Committee, Casey continued to build on the recruitment skills he learned the previous semester as the Recruitment Co-Chairman for his fraternity. After advertising the program, reviewing applications, and interviewing applicants, Casey and the 19 other Steering Committee members finished the selection process with a ten hour selection meeting, in which the new members were chosen. Casey was on the Steering Committee from his Sophomore Year through his Senior Year.
As a Junior, Casey became a Cluster Group Coordinator, co-leading a group of eight IA's and planning out events for the group. Coordinators are also responsible for planning out program wide events and selecting the Steering Committee for the year. Casey was Coordinator for the International Assistant Program through his Senior Year.
During the 2013 Summer, Casey worked as the International Student Orientation Coordinator in the Office of International Student Services at Boston College. His responsibilities included preparing the IA program for the 2013-2014 academic year. More information on this position can be found on the Work Page.
